There are not many of these restaurants around, so it has that going for it. If you come early there won't be a wait, but you can be sure that there will be one if you show up at dinnertime or later in the night.

It's easy to order and the service is really fast. As for selection of BBQ skewers, it's quite good. I happen to like their cold dishes just as much, but I'm sure the big pull for this restaurant are the skewers.

The taste of the skewers definitely has that bbq flavor that is good. The only downside to me, the seasoning that they use on every skewer is the same, so after a while it seems like you are eating the same skewers, regardless of the meat or tofu that you chose.

Their dishes are tasty, but a bit greasy. It's definitely the kind of food you want to drink beer while eating.

Overall it's good, but I can't see myself eating here often!

Chef Yang's is a good spot for a late night craving. I came here on a Friday night about 40 minutes before they close, and there was still a short wait, so I'm guessing this place is pretty popular, even for late night.

The food itself is pretty average, like what you'd expect from a Chinese skewer joint. However I found myself really liking their BBQ Toast ($1), which is just a piece of toast that's been.. well, barbequed with some sauce and then lightly sugared, but man does it hit the spot. I also got lamb and chicken skewers, both of which were tasty as well.

As some of the reviews stated, the majority of the workers are non-native speakers, with some that don't speak any English. However I don't think the lack of service warrants docking any points, as it's what one would expect from a quick Chinese eatery. I'll definitely come back here after a night out or if I'm in the area looking for a quick bite to eat.

Let's face it.  It's pretty hard to mess up a skewer so there not going to be "The foods amazing!" review here.  Just as in SF, Fremont and here in Cupertino, there's not much "skewer" competition so you will have lines even if your food sucks.  Most staff here don't speak English so just expect service to be what it is.  Food is in par with any other skewer shops.

The demographics drives this biz.  The customer base is mostly China students or the few non Asian customers were sprinkled in with China students or techies. 90% of the customers are men; like 4 dudes or 5 dudes with 1 lady if they are lucky.  I'm sorry but don't bring your lady if your girl is beautiful or well endowed.  The nerdiest men here will just keep staring or pretend to take selfies of your lady or date to do what they do at home.  That's probably why I would not go back.

At least the skewer shop in SF gets at 50/50 mixed group (of students) are men/women when they come in.  It's just this shop in the whole shopping complex attract this demographics.  Sorry but these tech/student skewer boy/men wolf packs are just too weird, nerdy and eclectic.

There isnt much competition for Chinese skewers around the area so be prepared for a small wait during peak dinnertime. With that said this place is really good! All the skewers use the same spicy cumin sauce so the only difference is the base ingredient. All the skewers are pretty cheap so it's a great place for a snack or for dinner. The place is small and staff is busy so dont expect superb service, but the food comes out fairly quickly.
Must try is the lamb skewer! Other good options are the large intestine, the chicken heart, bbq mantou (bun), and the a-choy.

OMG! The food here is sooo good! All the items my friends chose for us were so flavorful. Tables are asked to order all at once. It does take awhile for the skewers to come out. They come out here and there during the course of the meal. The plates are prepared quicker. This place does fondly remind me of time I spent in China. It is pretty fun eating off of sticks.

My favorite favorite favorite skewer was the BBQ Tempura. I had no idea what that meant, and i still don't know what it was- but it was really tender and delicious. Its not like Japanese fried tempura.

The BBQ chicken and BBQ sweet buns were so yummy. The BBQ yams, eggplant, and vegetable skewers were good too. The tofu was thin and chewy on sticks. The fried rice was great with hot dog bits.

We were told the bbq corn takes an hour to cook. What??

I don't quite understand the one stars given here. It's like haters want to close this place down or something. I did wait 40 min for a table with friends on a Saturday evening. I think that means it's worth the wait. Hopefully, you come here with people you want to talk to so talk to them while you wait. If you want a shorter wait, come during non-peak. It's a "smaller" venue.

Parking can be challenging on the weekends. Don't give up; there is a parking garage in the back of Cupertino Village.
